Heads Up: Amazon Is Issuing Surprise Refunds from Past Returns (I Got $116!)
Heads up Amazon shoppers – you maybe due a refund!
As reported in Yahoo Finance, Amazon customers are unexpectedly receiving refunds — some as old as 7 years — due to an internal review that uncovered unresolved return issues. If you’re eligible, the refund will be processed automatically and you don’t need to file a claim.
In fact, I actually received one of these refunds last week – in the amount of $116.59! As pictured above, I was the recipient of an email from Amazon with the Subject Line “Information about your Amazon Order” from [email protected]. Interestingly enough, this return was in reference to an Apple Magic Trackpad that I had returned at Whole Foods Market in October 2024.
Have you also received one of these unexpected refunds from Amazon?
I got $3.35
Nice, Lorraine! Thanks for letting us know you received a refund email. โค๏ธ
Is this part of the lawsuit because they reversed refunds for some returns.
Hi Sherry! Here’s the link to the Yahoo! Finance article from our post; as it does share some details about a lawsuit, if you wanted to read a bit more about the details on that. ๐
Yep I got $14
I got $11.60!
I received $25.61
They put $35 into my account
Does the refund go on your credit card or an amazon credit?
Hi Nancy! In Brynโs email, the refund was mentioned as going back to the original payment method. If thatโs not available for any reason, the refund will be issued as an Amazon Gift Card and added to your account instead. ๐
I would like to know if I have anything to do with the Amazon lawsuit. Thank you how does it work?
Hi Erica! If youโre eligible, the refund will be processed automatically! You should receive an email letting you know if you have received a refund, so be sure to check your inbox! ๐
Please explain IN email ty
If youโre eligible for a refund, you should receive an email with all the details! Hope this helps! ๐
I received two refunds for items I returned for an EXCHANGE! In other words, they sent the two new exchanged items (first two didnโt work) without charging me. I DID receive the two new exchange items BUT Amazon just refunded my money anyway! I spent an hour trying to explain this to them but they couldnโt even find a record of them refunding the money to my credit card!! Multiple people, supervisors, etc., involved and nobody had ANY idea what I was talking about! Eventually I gave up. Iโm now $116 better off! Yippee for me – I tried to do the right thing and they wouldnโt let me?!
They have been stealing money from people for years by reversing refunds and just simply not crediting returns. Most people buy so much from Amazon that itโs hard to keep track when a refund hasnโt been issued. Itโs actually quite infuriating.
I have been saying this for years! And noting it to Amazon several times. I will buy something, then sadly have to return it. Once I return it to UPS, they โcreditโ you immediately as a good-will that you did in fact send the item back. Then, how many of you weeks, even mo the layer get an email saying, hey you better return that item or we are going to charge you for it as we issued you a goodwill credit? You then panic and call/chat Amazon and go no I sent it via UPS (and maybe even still have the receipt-I save mine for 1 yr now!) and customer service ensures you itโs all taken care of now, they fixed it, ignore the email. Nope, wrong! Amazon will charge you again for the item reversing the original charge and taking back the goodwill credit. So what does that mean? You read that right, they are charging you x 2 for the item you have returned and donโt even have anymore!
So, how do I know this 100%. As stated we spend a lot at Amazon. I bought 3 identical items and paid a total of $303.03 for them in total. Odd amount visually to see on the bill, plus a large amount. It took 6 months to resolve all the over charges from Amazon on the items, even though I had returned them within 3 days to UPS! I was continually charged $303.03 every time I turned around for these stupid 3 fake aloe plants ๐คฆ๐ปโโ๏ธ. Since then, I triple check my bill, and after I ever return anything I always say โthis should be a class-action lawsuit!โ
Where are we looking for this? An email from Amazon returns?
Thanks
Bryn received her email from Amazon with the Subject Line โInformation about your Amazon Orderโ from [email protected]. Hope this helps! ๐ค
I got an email also. I was skeptical until i saw this post.
How do you get the refunds? You have to email someone??
If youโre eligible, the refund will be processed automatically and you donโt need to file a claim. โค๏ธ
Thanks for the response but how would you know if you are eligible? Would you have to email first?
You’re welcome! Amazon will determine if you are eligible for a refund. You do not need to take any action. ๐ค
Where do you click on? I just see if your eligible for amount on credit card.
Hey Mary! You can click through the link above for the full details and also check for an email with the subject – “Information about your Amazon Order”. Hoping that helps! ๐
I received the email and had $37 refunded.
Awesome! ๐
I am trying to see about my refund
I thought it was a scam so I dismissed the email!
I’m sure you’re not the only one, Shari P! Glad to hear that you found this information helpful.
Not really sure that I’m sure of what’s going on here, but I’ve been using Amazon for many years and I’ve never received any kind of refund out of the blue.
Hey Kelly! This is a confusing one for sure! It appears that in past years some have returned items to Amazon and couldn’t get their refund as Amazon didn’t receive details back that it was returned. Some had disputed this with no resolve. Now, years later, Amazon has been able to issue many of those refunds! Yay! Hoping that is more helpful! ๐คโค๏ธโค๏ธ
Wow! Iโm so thankful you posted this as Iโd overlooked my email from Amazon but found they refunded me $75.60!!!
SO amazing, Sue! Very happy this post was a helpful heads up for you to check your email and spot a refund too! ๐๐
